Who Am I?

Well, to summarize…I am a stay at home mom who homeshools and we are in a financial crunch!

I have a degree in engineering, but became a stay at home mom in 2003 with the birth of my first child. Being a busy body, I started a sewing business, and found the stress to be more than I can take. But, reducing my stress has caused a debt sized hole I can barly see out of. Now my husband and I seek a cheaper way of life. And, I have a new mission, and that is to reduce all my spending, and costs to be minimal as possible. I love do-it-yourself projects, cooking, and new fun crafts, so this isn’t just coupon cutting here! I am looking for fun, creative, and out of the box ways to keep my life exciting, while utilizing what I already have.

We are a Christian family, who homeschools their two children. Jeega (nickname) is my daughter, and was born in December of 2003. Bear (also a nickname) is my son and he was born in April of 2006. We love the curriculum Our Father’s World, and have implemented Sue Patrick’s Workbox System in order to structure our day. Soon, we will be introducing a new math curriculum called RightStart, and we’re very excited about that.

Looking back, our family’s financial, spiritual, and homeschool style has changed dramatically in the last year. What will this year bring? Lord only knows, and I can’t wait to find out!

I just happened upon your blog and had to write a comment because my children are very close in age to yours 6 & 4 and we are going to start using My fathers world next year and have also just started Right Start math. I am very excited about it as well. What level did you start with? How long have you been using my fathers world? Are you currently doing K or 1st in MFW?
It would be nice to have a contact that is using the same curriculum as we are and has children in the same age range.
So happy I found your blog.

Micah, I’m happy to hear that we’re along similar journeys! I used MFW K last year for DD. And, this year we’re doing MFW 1st with her. I’ve been very happy with it, but I think we’ll be making a change for next year for her. DS will do MFW K and then 1st just like his sister, if things go well. I’m still exploring what we’ll do for sure for next year. With the Right Start math, though, I think we’ve hit the jackpot!! I love it SO very much. Keep in touch, so we can compare notes as we progress!
